Zhamanak: Price hikes expected in Armenia

November 30, 2011

YEREVAN. –There is usually 2-2.5 percent inflation in Armenia, in the lead-up to the holidays, Consumers’ Association Chairman Armen Poghosyan told Zhamanak daily.

“There will be some price changes, especially in the food sector,” he said, adding it is necessary to be a bit consistent, so that last year’s scenario would not repeat and we would not have a deficit. “Usually, this is a commerce policy. They hold on to the product so they may sell it at a higher price. This seems to have become a custom in Armenia,” Poghosyan stressed.
