Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia arrived on a pastoral visit to Iran on Monday.  

He will preside on the interfaith dialogue meeting between the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia and the Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran that began 10 years ago.

Speaking in Surb Sargis church in Tehran, Aram I said that Iran has fair position on ethnic minorities, stressing that the Armenian community has been living peacefully next to the Muslim compatriots for 100 years.

During the visit, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia will honor founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran imam Khomeini and meet with the religious leaders in Qom seminary.

Earlier this month Catholicos Aram I visited the United Arab Emirates where he blessed the foundation of the first Armenian church in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
