YEREVAN.- Head of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan nominated Hovik Abrahamyan for the post of speaker.

In his speech Abrahamyan expressed gratitude to President Serzh Sargsyan and the Republican Party of Armenia. He expressed confidence that the newly elected National Assembly will increase the roles of parliamentarism, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from the parliament.

Hovik Abrahamyan said he is ready to be a speaker and is aware of the programs of all the parties.

“Despite criticizing each other, we are all very close in terms of values. I believe we all are patriots, not a single party but Armenia will win,” he said.

RPA has majority in the 131-member parliament. Therefore, the party got the post of speaker, vice speaker and prime minister. RPA signed a cooperation memorandum with Orinats Yerkir on Wednesday evening.
