BATUMI. –Georgian MP Jondi Bagaturia organized on Saturday an action against strengthening of Turkish influence in Batumi. He called on all opposition forces to support the action.

“It will be our civil protest and warning to all anti-Georgian powers that Adjaria is our territory and we will not yield it to anyone. It will not become a field for dirty deals between the Turks and certain Georgians,” he said.

Bagaturia expressed concern about the fact that the Turks will soon make a majority in Adjaria and will declare Adjaria an autonomous state.

Moreover, the Georgian authorities have already granted citizenship to 25,000 Turks in Adjaria adding it is done deliberately. Georgia is to face parliamentary elections in October. Thus, the Turks having dual citizenship may participate in the elections and vote for the ruling United National Movement party, Georgia Online reports.
