YEREVAN.- Armenian Deputy Premier Armen Gevorgyan received on Monday the delegation of officials dealing with the State Department’s 2012 Trafficking in Persons Report, headed by Ambassador John Heffern.

They discussed issues related to this year’s report, expressing readiness to continue efficient cooperation in the struggle against human trafficking.

Speaking about the undertaken measures, Armen Gevorgyan said the Armenian government attaches importance to struggle against trafficking. He pointed out improvement of the legal field, international cooperation, as well as efforts to prevent trafficking in children.

Deputy Premier also spoke about cooperation with the NGOs dealing with the trafficking issues, as well as with the Yerevan office of the United Nations Children’s Fund.

The officials noted Armenia’s progress in this field, stressing the country is on the right track.
