YEREVAN. – The opposition Heritage Party considers its chairman Raffi Hovannisian as the opposition’s single candidate for Armenia’s forthcoming presidential elections, Heritage’s MP Zaruhi Postanjyan stated during a press conference on Friday.

Commenting on the observation that other political opposition parties or forces likewise nominate their own candidate as the opposition’s single contender, Postanjyan noted that they are prepared to hold discussions and reach an agreement as to which candidate is more competitive.

The journalists recalled that the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress and the Heritage Party both support opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party’s candidate for the mayoral elections in Gyumri city, and asked whether this format could also work for the presidential elections.

In response, Zaruhi Postanjyan said: “We can’t rule out anything in the context of cooperation, and I believe if they truly are oppositional forces, they need to work with a common approach in that field.”
