YEREVAN. – A protest action against Armenian president’s decision to join the Customs Union kicked off near president’s residence in Yerevan on Wednesday (photo).

The number of protesters and police officers is growing. The demonstrators do not belong to any political or civil organization and were informed about the action through Facebook. The action is joined by ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan.

Police officers demanded that protesters should stand in sidewalk across the presidential residence, but the activists made an attempt to reach the building. Policemen detained Argishti Kiviryan and several activists.

The participants are sitting in front of the president’s residence.
