Former President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze announced that Russia and Georgia would enter NATO in the near future.

Once both Georgia and Russia would be included in the Alliance, which would facilitate the normalization of relations between the two countries, he said in an interview with Georgian Asaval-dasaval newspaper,

He also wants Georgia to try to establish friendly relations with its northern neighbor.

“There is a need to talk with Russia for returning the occupied territories,” said Shevardnadze.
