YEREVAN. – At present, Armenia’s Lake Sevan is 1900.19 meters above sea level, Chairman Vladimir Movsisyan of the Presidential Committee on Lake Sevan Issues stated during a press conference on Friday.

In line with the laws adopted in 2001, the water level of the Lake was to rise by 216 centimeters in ten years, but, instead, it rose by 380 centimeters. 

In addition, the water release from Lake Sevan has reduced. Pursuant to the law, the water release cannot exceed 170-million m3 per year, but its average amount is at 158 million m3.  

As per Vladimir Movsisyan, the elevation of Lake Sevan has equaled that of in 1963. “Within the past ten years, there has never been a negative balance between the release and inflow of the waters of [Lake] Sevan,” Movsisyan stated.
