TBILISI. – Georgian President’s initiative aiming to raise availability of higher education for the representatives of the national minorities is underway, Gruziya Online reports.

Armenian and Azerbaijani university applicants will be granted special quotas this year as well: they will give exams only on general skills in their mother tongue and will be involved into preparation courses. They will pass an intensive course on Georgian and will enter the department they wish in a year.

Georgian Minister of Education Dmirti Shashkin met with Armenian and Azerbaijani school graduates and introduced them the details of the program.

The program started to fully function last year, within its frameworks over 300 non-Georgian applicants passed exams only on general skills and some of them, with high scores, received state financing.
