YEREVAN. – In the recent months, the Armenian press regularly wrote that a large number of books were stolen from the National Library and the Yerevan State University’s library, and that a respective criminal case is launched, Hraparak daily writes.

“And even though the criminal group was neutralized and four people, who had attempted to illegally enter the [National Library] building, were immediately arrested, according to our reliable sources, the apartment of the Library’s former Director Davit Sargsyan was also searched yesterday [Thursday] on suspicion of stealing books from the Library, and subsequently he was taken to the investigation division, where he was questioned for several hours. Incidentally, the former Director is being questioned for the third time, and despite the fact that the identity of the culprits is already clear and a criminal charge is laid, they persistently continue to look for the stolen books in the former Director’s possession, who not only is no longer the advisor to the National Library Director, but, also, his entry into the Library is now prohibited,” Hraparak writes.
