YEREVAN. – Yerkir has received new details on the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia’s (RPA) collecting of people’s passports and registering their serial numbers.

“These days the RPA members are actively registering the serial numbers of the passports of Charentsavan city residents for 10-thousand drams [approx. US$ 26]. And the Republicans are ‘confiscating’ the passports of some, on the condition of paying a larger amount, [but] prior to the [upcoming parliamentary] elections, of course.

They conduct in such way with those citizens who seem suspicious. The RPA members fear that the ‘opportunistic’ residents will take the amount, ‘trick’ them on election day, and vote for whomever they wish,” Yerkir writes.
