YEREVAN. – In return for forming a coalition and supporting Armenian President—and Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) leader—Serzh Sargsyan’s nomination in the 2013 presidential elections, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) expects to receive the posts of National Assembly (NA) Speaker and Deputy PM, 168 Zham daily writes.

“PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan wishes to assume the NA Speaker’s office for his in-law, RPA Campaign Headquarters Chief, [and former NA Speaker] Hovik Abrahamyan. And after the presidential elections, the PAP expects to assume the [Deputy] PM’s office, too, this time for former President, Robert Kocharyan.

According to our information, these matters were discussed during the meeting between President Serzh Sargsyan and PAP Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan.

In all likelihood, the talks did not yield the desired result at least with respect to Abrahamyan, and this, according to our information, was the reason why the latter [i.e., Abrahamyan] was not at the session of the Supreme Body of his party.

And in regard to the [Deputy] PM’s position, the RPA claims that Sargsyan will not surrender this to the PAP under any circumstance,” 168 Zham writes.
