YEREVAN. – Reflecting, speaking to Aravot daily, on the brutal murder of the Avetisyan family members in Armenia’s Gyumri city, the former head of the National Security Service, Davit Shahnazaryan, drew attention to the fact that this crime was committed with a weapon belonging to the Russian military base in Gyumri, and therefore, in his words, the Russian authorities are accountable for what occurred, the daily reported.

‘“The Russian authorities are obligated to formally apologize to the Armenian people and the Armenian authorities,’ Shahnazaryan noted adding that there is the impression, from the statements of condolence by the Russian officials, that just an unfortunate incident had taken place,” Aravot wrote.

Six members of the Avetisyan family were shot dead and the six-month-old baby was wounded in their house in Gyumri on Monday. Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the city’s Russian 102nd Military Base, is the main suspect in this crime. Permyakov was later apprehended near the Armenian-Turkish border.
