YEREVAN. – Air Armenia airline company, which was the sole Armenian air passenger carrier until December of last year, may resume its flights in late March of this year, Zhoghovurd daily reported.

“Air Armenia company spokesperson Sirak Hambardzumyan informed Zhoghovurd about this.

“In October last year, when this company ceased operating flights, the company management issued a message, according to which they were promising to resume flights in December last year.

“But in late December, Air Armenia Director and official owner Arsen Avetisyan announced about selling 49 percent of the company’s shares to the Russian East Prospect Fund company.

“Accordingly, Air Armenia practically ceased to be an Armenian carrier, and [therefore] Armenia currently does not have an Armenian company that conducts regular flights,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
