YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan’s remarks, which he delivered at Thursday’s meeting of the board of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, are nothing but a declaration of a domestic political war against the non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Zhamanak daily reported.

“But it is naive to think that the PAP and [its chairman] Gagik Tsarukyan will surrender immediately.

“(…) But the situation is quite complicated and, basically, Serzh Sargsyan has not given much choice to Gagik Tsarukyan. What remains for Tsarukyan is to either proceed to counterattack, or reach arrangement with Serzh Sargsyan by discussing the avenues for a peaceful retreat.

“[But] much here depends on whether the PAP, as such, is to what extent fully subordinate to Gagik Tsarukyan, and to what extent [second President] Robert Kocharyan, whose several teammates are in the PAP today, has an influence there,” Zhamanak wrote.
