YEREVAN. – At present, there are 33 people living in Armenia who have survived in the Armenian Genocide in 1915, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“The Armenian government, in the upcoming [Cabinet] meeting, will discuss the matter of increasing these people’s [monthly] pension by 75 thousand drams [approx. $157]. According to the [respective] draft, the additional funds will be allocated as of April of this year and until the end of the year.

“To this day, persons [living in Armenia and], who were born before 1915 in Western Armenia and other areas of the Ottoman Turkey, were getting a 25-thousand-dram [approx. $52] bonus with their pension; now, they will receive a 100-thousand[-dram] [approx. $209] bonus,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
