YEREVAN. – According to some information, the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC will be petitioning to the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) within one month, and with a formal request to increase the price of electricity in the country, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“It is not known how much the ENA will propose to raise prices, but the PSRC, in all likelihood, will increase [the] electricity [price] by 5-7 drams [approx. $0.01-$0.015], thus [the] electricity [price] will go up around 15-16 percent.

“The electricity price hike [in Armenia] is due to the fact that an extreme situation has been created throughout our energy system. The whole system is buried up to its throat in debt,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
