YEREVAN. – The announcement by Alexey Miller—Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian energy Gazprom Company—that the price of Russian natural gas being supplied to Armenia will drop by $25, has become a propaganda hit to praise Armenian-Russian relations and the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union, 168 Zham daily reported.

“[But] Russia’s policy toward Armenia in the gas price issue is one of the separate manifestations of Russia’s general treatment. And the formula of ‘it could have been worse’ lies at the heart of this treatment, or policy.

“There is a growing disappointment among the Armenian society toward Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union. And to prevent this, the Russians decided to reduce the price of gas being supplied to their own company [in Armenia]; with just 25 dollars, of course. But this is perhaps even a high price for the present-day standing of Russia,” 168 Zham wrote.
