YEREVAN. – “Russia must posit demands before Azerbaijan,” said Ambassador Vladimir Kazimirov, former Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, speaking to 168 Zham daily, and reflecting on the Russian policy of selling weapons to Azerbaijan, reported the daily.

“In the ambassador’s view, the sale of weapons should at least be conditional on several demands. ‘It seems to me that the ammunition being sold shall not be sold in order to be used in the [Nagorno-Karabakh] conflict zone; these can be meant for general defense. Defensive weapons are one thing, whereas offensive—something else; that is, these matters need for greater clarity,’ Ambassador Kazimirov commented.

“To the clarifying query on whether the Russian side can posit [respective] demands before the Azerbaijani side, he responded by saying ‘yes.’ ‘In my conviction, the arms sales to both sides of the conflict—but these sides are even three—should be made conditional on certain requirements,’ Vladimir Kazimirov said,” 168 Zham wrote.
