YEREVAN. – Armenia’s export to Russia has dropped 47.6 times in the first quarter of 2015 as compared with the same period last year, the official statistics shows.

“The National Statistical Service and the Ministry of Economy have repeatedly sated these shameful figures are due to defective collection of information on the performance of mutual trade between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and they will be clarified in the future,” 168zham daily writes.

For the fifth month, Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Union, but we still have to wait to see updated indicators on foreign trade. However, there is no need to wait, because the data on foreign trade between Armenia and Russia can be found in the official Russian sources, the newspaper says.

According to Russia’s customs service, import of the Armenian goods reached $60.8 million in the first quarter of 2014. Meanwhile, this year’s import is only $24.1 million.

“It turns out that, according to official Russian statistics, the export of goods from Armenia to Russia decreased 2.5 times. So, one can assume that these are final and accurate figures. How did it happen that Russia has indicators on imported goods from Armenia, and Armenia does not? It is almost impossible to answer this question,” 168zham daily resumes.
