YEREVAN. – The Minsk Group US Co-Chair, Ambassador James Warlick, who is in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan on a regional visit, met with the President, the Foreign Minister, and MPs of the National Assembly, reported 168 Zham daily.

“What’s new is that [this time] a ‘large-scale conflict’ is spoken about at the level of a Minsk Group co-chair. 

“The Azerbaijani side has toughened its military rhetoric, and there is an expectation that there might be provocations at the [Karabakh] conflict zone after the First European Games to be held in two days in [the Azerbaijani capital city of] Baku.

“Moreover, this [i.e. Azerbaijan’s toughened military rhetoric] is also due to the recent Russian-Azerbaijani warming [of relations].

“And it cannot be ruled out that Warlick came to Armenia to forewarn something to the [Armenian] authorities on the eve of the start of the games,” wrote 168 Zham.
