YEREVAN. – Haykakan Zhamanak daily’s sources at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia (RA) have informed that some problems have arisen regarding the compiling of the documents required for the complete overhaul of the country’s operating nuclear power plant, reported the daily.

“The resource for the operation of the nuclear plant end in 2016. The RA Government shall receive a loan of 270 million [US] dollars and a grant of 30 million dollars from the RF [i.e. the Russian Federation] to extend this period for 10 years. The plant must undergo a major overhaul with that money.

“Numerous [respective] agreements and contracts need to be signed. One of them was to be signed in early June, in Moscow. But at the last minute, the signing of the document was postponed indefinitely.

“Our sources do not inform what specific document this is about, but they assure that it is only a technical problem, and it will be signed soon,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
