YEREVAN. – The sources of Haykakan Zhamanak daily say that, after the audit, the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC will be sold to the proprietor of Tashir Group Company, Russia-based Armenian Samvel Karapetyan, reported the daily.

“It is clear that the audit [at the ENA] will reveal numerous problems, and these problems will reduce the price of the transaction. In particular, Karapetyan intends to see to it that at least half of the ENA’s current liabilities are deducted from the purchase price.

“That is, (…) the establishment is handed over to Karapetyan in a semi-clean condition. In this case, there will be no need for increasing the electrical energy tariff [in Armenia].

“As for the transaction price, according to experts, it can vary within the limits of 250-300 million [US] dollars. According to our information, Karapetyan will pay this amount through a preferential loan received from one of the Russian banks. The loan will be given with a guarantee of the RF [i.e. the Russian Federation] government,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
