YEREVAN. – The Armenian dram is again showing manifestations of depreciation, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“Yesterday [i.e. Wednesday], the price of one [US] dollar reached 479 drams 50 lumas at the stock exchange of Armenia. The day earlier, one dollar cost 479 drams.

“This is the case when there were no transactions at the exchange for several days, whereas last week, the price of one dollar was in the whereabouts of 475 drams.

“This may be due to the start of the holiday season [in Armenia]. Those leaving for vacation outside Armenia usually take foreign currency with them, which increases the demand for the dollar,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
