YEREVAN. – Zhamanak daily has learned that the businessmen representatives of the MP faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) are in a state of panic, reported the daily.

“They assure that they were told that after the adoption of the draft constitutional amendments, when elections [in the country] will be held with solely a proportional voting system, they no longer will have a chance to be on the RPA proportional [election] list, and [therefore] the lawmaking biography of these MPs will end.

“The RPA members say RPA Spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov[, who is also Vice President of the National Assembly,] conveyed this information to them,” wrote Zhamanak.

Chapters 1 through 7 of the new draft Constitution of Armenia were made public on July 15. Accordingly, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
