YEREVAN. – Members of the Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) say, in private conversations, that the real challenger for the Justice Minister’s vacant position is Arpine Hovhannisyan, a member of the RPA National Assembly (NA) Faction, reported Zhoghovurd daily.

“Zhoghovurd has learned that RA [i.e. Republic of Armenia] Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan was personally engaged in lobbying for her.  Furthermore, it is noted that, allegedly, [President] Serzh Sargsyan has already given his consent in terms of this nomination, but instructed to keep it a secret promising that he will return from vacation and tell everything.

“In any case, it is a widely known fact that Arpine Hovhannisyan’s career began to rapidly flourish from 2008 to 2011, after working in the capacity as adviser to NA [then-]President Hovik Abrahamyan,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
