YEREVAN. – According to official statistics, and after a break of many years, growth was recorded in the Republic of Armenia’s (RA) construction industry, in the first six months of the current year, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“How did this growth come about? According to the official report by the RA National Statistical Service, more construction was done in the given period—on the account of the people’s means—in the Kotayk Province than in [capital city] Yerevan.

“[But] what is noteworthy is that the population of the Kotayk Province is about four times less than that of Yerevan.

“Such statistical ‘leaps’ are recorded in other domains, too.

“To remind, RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan had recently announced that a more-than-4-percent [economic] growth will be recorded in Armenia this year. This is basically the instruction given to our statisticians, and which the latter successfully carry out,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
