YEREVAN. – Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia (RA) announced that construction of the third Armenia-Iran electricity transmission line will commence next week, and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources released a statement thoroughly describing the history of this project, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“But neither the PM nor the ministry pointed to a noteworthy ‘trifle.’ Perhaps they have forgotten that the construction has already ‘started’ long ago and ‘finished’ long ago.

“Back five years ago, (…) then Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the RA, Armen Movsisyan, and then Minister of Energy of Iran, Majid Namjoo, together gave the ‘start’ of construction of the [very same] third two-circuit Armenia-Iran electricity transmission line. This construction, which officially started in 2010, was to be completed in eighteen months; that is, the electricity transmission line should have been ready in April 2012.

“Incidentally, this is not the sole ‘launched’ project in Armenian-Iranian energy relations,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
