YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities assure for years that membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is for ensuring the security of the country, reported Zhoghovurd.

“During the last two weeks, Azerbaijan is shelling the border villages of the Tavush Province [in Armenia], on a regular basis.

“Aside from Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are [also] CSTO members. [But] to this day, neither the CSTO nor the other member states said anything on the shelling of Armenia’s territory.

“Hence, we are convinced once again that neither the CSTO nor its members are not only the non-guarantor of our security, but they themselves may be the main threat.

“How can a country [i.e. Russia], which proclaims itself an ally but sells 5 billion [US] dollars in arms to your enemy in the next move, be the guarantor of [your] security?” wrote Zhoghovurd.
