YEREVAN. – A scandal is expected within the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), reported Chorrord Ishkhanutyun daily.

“The PAP, which previously opposed the [proposed] constitutional amendments (…), now has decided to vote ‘for’ the decision to put the new draft Constitution to referendum.

“But not all MPs in the PAP [National Assembly (NA)] Faction agree with that decision.

“And PAP Spokesperson Vahan Babayan stated: ‘The [PAP faction] MPs, who have a different opinion and will make other options, will violate the decision by the party’s higher body,’” wrote Chorrord Ishkhanutyun.

The new draft Constitution of Armenia has been debated in the NA. Pursuant to this draft, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
