YEREVAN. – The National Assembly of Armenia on Monday voted on and passed the decision on agreeing to hold a referendum on the draft amendments to the Constitution, reported Zhoghovurd daily.

“Zhoghovurd found out that the final draft of the new Constitution was distributed to the MPs yesterday [i.e. Monday] morning, solely a few hours before the vote. (…). This means the lawmakers pressed the ‘buttons’ without being familiar with the draft.

“It is assumed [President] that Serzh Sargsyan will sign a decree either today or tomorrow, whereby a referendum day—in all likelihood, December 6—will be set. And if the referendum passes with a dominance of the ‘yes’ votes, it means we will wake up on December 7 in a quite another Armenia, where the MPs will from now on read the drafts before voting,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
