YEREVAN. – The Yerevan Municipality—of Armenia’s capital city—has mistaken the Erebuni-Yerevan (Yerevan Day) celebrations’ spending for state secrets, and it refuses to present an account to the people about how it has managed over 150 million Armenian drams (approx. $317,632) to hold these events, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“It is apparent that 130 million drams [approx. $275,281] were allocated from the community budget both last and this year. But in addition, there were also private transfers [to hold these celebrations].

“But the municipal authorities do not wish to shed light on these matters, and our [respective] written request has remained unanswered, albeit during a recent [press] conference, Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan, with some reluctance, but had responded to our reporter that they received 30 million drams [approx. $63,526] from sponsors this year, and this number has a growth trend,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
