YEREVAN. – Chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia, businessman Ara Abrahamyan, who announced his plans to partake in Armenia’s future politics, is holding active talks with Chairman Arthur Baghdasaryan of the opposition Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP), and apparently, they have come to an agreement, wrote Zhamanak daily.

“[Accordingly,] if Armenian Rebirth [(AR)] wins [the parliamentary election in 2017], Ara Abrahamyan will hold the Prime Minister’s position while Arthur Baghdasaryan—that of the President of the republic.

“Ara Abrahamyan’s political revelation to the Armenian body politic may take place during the event when the RLP will transform into AR, which has been decided to organize after the referendum [which is expected to be conducted in December] on constitutional amendments.

“It is interesting that Abrahamyan [now] occupies the very same sector—the pro-Russian area—of [Armenian] politics which [opposition Prosperous Armenia Party former Chairman and oligarch MP Gagik] Tsarukyan was occupying at the time,” wrote Zhamanak.
