YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) should grant Armenia a visa-free regime, which will enable the Armenian citizens to get better acquainted with Europe and this system of values.

Eastern Europe Studies Centre (Vilnius, Lithuania) representative, Lithuanian political scientist Laurynas Kasčiūnas, told the aforesaid to 168 Zham daily, reflecting on the Armenia-EU talks to commence at the year’s end, the daily reported.

“In his words, this will help the citizens, and therefore also the authorities, to make the right decision. ‘Mobility is an extremely important tool—in many cases, decisive—for countries. (…) Such an opportunity will be given also to Armenia, should the authorities wish,” Kasčiūnas said adding that in case of implementing the EU requirements, the corresponding reforms, Armenia can lay claim to more in relations with the EU.

‘“[In addition], the EU can contribute to peace-building in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, and I believe it should do this by reforming the conflicting countries, little by little,’ Laurynas Kasčiūnas said,” 168 Zham wrote.
