YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily has learned that job cuts are in progress during the last months at Zvartnots International Airport in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, to reduce the expenses of this enterprise, the daily reported.

“Such a move was quite expected, since as a result of the drop in passenger transportation in the past ten months of this year as compared to the previous year, Zvartnots Airport’s turnover reduced by at least 7 million [US] dollars.

“It is apparent that this decline will continue until the end of the year, and it would be naive to believe that the situation will sharply improve next year.

“Zhoghovurd spoke with the airport’s press secretary Gevorg Abrahamyan, according to whom the process [of job cuts at Zvartnots] is called differently. ‘(…) [These] are optimizing processes, which are carried out from time to time in any other establishments, too.’

“[But] no matter what, we are dealing with [job] cuts [at Zvartnots International Airport],” Zhoghovurd wrote.
