YEREVAN. – According to some information, the once frozen relations between the close circles of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan and businessman Ara Abrahamyan—who is also Chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia and President of the World Armenian Congress—are again showing a warming trend, Hraparak daily reported.

“As a result of these contacts, it was decided that the Armenian [Bidzina] Ivanishvili [i.e. the former Georgian Prime Minister who is an oligarch] is no longer Gagik Tsarukyan  [i.e. the once Prosperous Armenia Party former Chairman and oligarch MP], but Ara Abrahamyan.

“There is another subtle reason for the generalization of the two ‘teams’ in the negative attitude toward [former Armenian PM and serving ambassador to US] Tigran Sargsyan.

“The thing is that EEU [i.e. Eurasian Economic Union] ‘PM’ T. Sargsyan will start carrying out his [respective] duties in two months, and he will be the ‘curator’ of Armenia-Russia relations, with [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan’s ‘permission.’ Russia will coordinate all matters with Armenia through him.

“Incidentally, Tigran Sargsyan will have about 1,000 staff, and, according to our information, he recently assembled [several of] Russia’s [Armenian] tycoons (…) around him,” Hraparak wrote.
