YEREVAN. – The [Russian natural] gas talks will have positive consequences for Armenia, since, depending on the [global] oil prices, the gas price will further reduce for Armenia. Given the drop in oil prices, according to my calculations, this reduction will be approximately 15 to 20 percent. But it is also important to understand how [much] the price of gas changes at the border [of Armenia].

Russian National Energy Security Foundation Founder and Director General, analyst Konstantin Simonov, told this to 168 Zham daily, reflecting on the ongoing Armenian-Russian talks on the matter of reviewing the price of Russian natural gas being supplied to Armenia, the daily reported.

“In his conviction, this matter likewise was discussed at the [recent] [Armenian President Serzh] Sargsyan-[Russian President Vladimir] Putin meeting [in Moscow].

“Asked whether there will be a certainty on this matter during [Russian PM] Dmitry Medvedev’s upcoming visit [to Armenia] in April, Simonov responded that [this] cannot be ruled out.

‘“I am not familiar with the visit agenda, but I am confident that the [two] prime ministers will not bypass this matter, since the [respective] negotiations are in progress,’ he said,” 168 Zham wrote.
