YEREVAN. – US Secretary of State John Kerry Kerry’s recurrent visits to Moscow are generally positive against the backdrop of the West-Russia tensions, according to 168 Zham daily.

Russia’s policy in Syria and latest decision has changed the existing disposition in US-Russia relations.

“In fact, the positions of the West and Russia drew near in this matter, which created a positive ground for these negotiations,” Victor Nadein-Raevsky, an analyst at Political and Social Research Institute in Black Sea and Caspian Region, said speaking to the daily, and regarding Kerry’s recent visit to Moscow.

“He noted that it cannot be ruled out that, in closed discussions, the parties exchanged views [also] on the NK [i.e. Nagorno-Karabakh] peace process.

‘“Even if this has not happened, I am confident that the easing in US-RF [i.e. Russian Federation] tension will have a positive impact on the negotiations for a peaceful settlement of NK conflict,’ the Russian analyst said.

“In the meantime, Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, analyst Sergey Minasyan, assumed that the NK conflict was not discussed at all in Moscow. This, according to him, is positive, in the sense that this matter is not of so extraordinary importance to shadow the events taking place in Syria or Ukraine.

‘“I believe there are much more important and urgent problems for the US and Russia. (…) Both the US and RF do not perceive the situation that there is in the NK conflict zone as perilous,’ Minasyan said,” 168 Zham wrote.
