YEREVAN. – The parliamentary forces in Armenia are very active in terms of trying to have parliamentary seats again, whereas the non-parliamentary parties are very passive in this matter, according to Irates newspaper.
“Many of them are waiting [to see] what kind of opposition poles will be created in order to decide whom to ‘hold on’ to.
“According to our information, the [Armenian Public Council Chairman Vazgen Manukyan-led] NDU [i.e. the National Democratic Union party] is attempting to return to the political arena with a new ‘word.’
“But they lack a presidential permission for the start [of their active campaign].
“Today the NDU is discussing the matter of expediency of running in the elections alone, but this decision is not yet final. It all depends on what kind of a consolidation will be carried out within the party.
“By the way, NDU will ‘play’ in the opposition turf,” Irates wrote.
