YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan’s spokesperson confirmed Friday that Tsarukyan saw off and then welcomed at the airport President Serzh Sargsyan who had gone to Brussels, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes. 

‘“It is state protocol when a security council member welcomes and sees off the country’s president, and there is no need to seek specific subtexts [in this],’ said the spokesperson.

[But] Politologists’ Union [of Armenia] Chairman Hmayak Hovhannisyan recalled that when [the late] Karen Demirchyan was [National Assembly] NA Speaker and protocol demanded the same [procedure], he never did this, [and] thus showed his oppositional attitude,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
