YEREVAN. – The refugee flow continues from Syria to Armenia. Thousands of Syrian Armenians are immigrating to Armenia these days. And the temporary shelters, where some of them are housed, are overloaded and there are no more places, Aravot writes.

“At the beginning of the war activities few Syrian Armenians were leaving their residences, and they preferred to emigrate to US, Canada, or Europe. But, as Armenian Police Passport and Visa Department informed, in the recent months alone—in the first six months of 2012—3,248 Syrian citizens applied to our county with a request for being granted citizenship.

And we learned from the Armenian State Migration Service, that solely six families from these people have applied to the Migration Service to be granted a residence permit. They need this document so as not to be deported from the country,” Aravot writes.
