YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Gyumri city Mayor and ruling Republican Party (RPA) member Vardan Ghukasyan went to the Presidential Palace on Friday, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.

“And a day earlier [Prosperous Armenia Party] PAP MP Samvel Balasanyan had visited the Presidential [Palace], and short time thereafter the PAP announced that Balasanyan is their mayoral candidate in Gyumri.

Vardan Ghukasyan—who was exerting every effort to receive the [presidential] ‘approval’ to run a fifth time for the office of Gyumri Mayor and was simultaneously stating that even if the RPA did not support him, it will be all the same, [and that] he would run—is silent for already two days, now.

Neither Ghukasyan nor his spokesperson answered to our reporter’s telephone calls yesterday [Friday]. It is assumed that little Vardan failed to achieve any result,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
