YEREVAN. – Will the New Year holidays create an obstacle for the nomination of the candidates and in connection with documents with respect to February’s presidential elections in Armenia? Hayots Ashkharh daily posed this question to Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan.   

“Mukuchyan noted: ‘Nominations begin on December 25, the deadline for submitting the applications for nomination is January 4. But considering that all the dates which the [Electoral Code] EC sets are calendar dates and they cannot be changed due to holidays, the Central Electoral Commission will work on holidays, too.     

If anyone decides to be nominated let’s say on January 1, and not in December, he will not have any problems in connection with submitting documents,’” Hayots Ashkharh quotes (CEC) Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan as saying.
