YEREVAN. – The oligarchs play an “inimitable” role during every election in Armenia because the political parties base themselves on their financial support, Irates De Facto newspaper reports.

“[But] this time, according to our information, the party in power [that is, the Republican Party (RPA)] decided not to make use of their ‘services.’

The reason is that in the case of being reelected, the incumbent president [and RPA presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan] plans to ‘free’ his hands as much as possible from, and to have no obligation toward, the oligarchs,” Irates De Facto writes.
