YEREVAN. – Armenian presidential candidate, opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian revealed what he and fellow candidate, opposition Freedom Party Chairman, former PM Hrant Bagratyan spoke about Wednesday while drinking tea at a hotel, Aravot daily reports.

“He said they did not speak about the decision of [presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman] Paruyr Hayrikyan [who is recovering at hospital from a gunshot wound after an assassination attempt].

[But] new information could come in very soon with respect to Hrant Bagratyan and Raffi Hovannisian because Mr. Hovannisian hinted that they will unite [forces].

‘We did not discuss the Hayrikyan issue. We discussed Armenia’s future, that the Armenian people could celebrate their triumph by our joint efforts. The matter of changing our country is at stake,’ Mr. Hovannisian said,” Aravot quotes.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Paruyr Hayrikyan announced Tuesday that he will not petition to the Constitutional Court with a formal request to postpone the presidential election, and therefore the vote will be conducted on February 18, as planned. Hayrikyan explained his reason for this by saying he does not wish to contribute to the plans to forcibly change Armenia’s political agenda.
