YEREVAN. – The European People’s Party (EPP) summit was held Monday in Brussels. From Armenia, ruling Republican Party representative—and Education and Science Minister—Armen Ashotyan, and coalition government’s junior member, Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party representative Mher Shahgeldyan took part in the event, Hraparak daily reports.

“[But] the EPP member [and Armenia’s opposition] Heritage [Party] representatives did not head to Brussels. We asked [Heritage’s representative] Stepan Safaryan why.

‘When we will find it expedient, we will head for Brussels. [Besides,] it was not an EPP congress for us to head; it was a mere convention,’ [he responded].

Does this mean you [that is, Heritage] are not leaving from, are not offended by EPP?

‘[Heritage Party Chairman, former FM] Raffi Hovannisian has comprehensively responded in connection with the EPP President [Wilfried Martens], I have nothing else to add,’ Stepan Safaryan said,” Hraparak writes.
