YEREVAN. – Aravot daily interviewed human rights advocate Vardan Harutyunyan.

‘“[Opposition Armenian National Congress Party Chairman, First President] Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s political analysis, in connection with driving PAP [i.e., the non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party] toward the opposition arena, cannot be considered a failure solely because PAP is in an alternative position. That is to say, it is not with the authorities.

That party is not with the authorities today, and it views itself as an alternative to the working authorities. The situation is more than simple,’ Harutyunyan told Aravot, in response to the query as to whether Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s political analysis, in connection with driving PAP toward the opposition arena, can be considered a failure, since PAP does not seem to be in a hurry to come out from the position of an alternative [political force],” Aravot writes.
