YEREVAN. – The term of office of Armenia’s Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan will come to an end on September 13, Zhoghovurd daily reports.

“But, as Zhoghovurd’s sources inform, Hovsepyan’s reappointment matter, which was considered a closed topic months ago, seems to have been reviewed. It is possible that, after returning from Moscow, [President] Serzh Sargsyan could decide no to ‘touch’ Hovsepyan.

“Despite this fact, however, the ruling backstage continues to ‘push forward’ some credible candidates. Accordingly, there is news that several senior officials have put in a good word to Sargsyan for Deputy Police Chief Arthur Osikyan, as a deserving Prosecutor General candidate.

“[The Justice Ministry’s Compulsory Enforcement Service of Judicial Orders] CESJO Chief Mihran Poghosyan likewise is lobbying for the office of the Prosecutor General.

“But the matter will be resolved once and for all after the Moscow visit,” Zhoghovurd writes.
