YEREVAN. – Armenia was carrying out explanatory activities Thursday in Brussels in two directions, Zhoghovurd daily reports.

“On the one hand was FM Edward Nalbandian, on the other hand, Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan and NA [i.e., National Assembly] Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Chairman Artak Zakaryan.

“Nalbandian met with Štefan Füle, European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, but they did not come to a general agreement. Furthermore, Füle implied that Armenia could be left entirely out of ‘European processes.’

“And the discussion at EPP [i.e., the European People’s Party], during which even though Ashotyan had suggested that the [Armenia-EU] Association Agreement be adjusted and initialed without the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area agreement [with EU], was unsuccessful.

“The EPP political committee adopted a resolution condemning Russia’s blackmail and pressures upon the Eastern Partnership member countries and stating that the precept of ‘either, or’ is in force,” Zhoghovurd writes.
